Dr. Leonard E. Weisman is a physician, inventor and medical leader with more than four decades of experience. He is a retired US Army medical colonel and a neonatologist, board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine since 1981 and in Pediatrics since 1979, and he founded LabReady.
LabReady is a trade name of Vax-Immune, LLC. Its LabReady Automated Sample Prep is a regulatory-approved specimen transport system that improves how samples are handled before testing. MyLabReady qPCR-AI is a pocket-sized platform combining PCR with onboard AI to detect infections in minutes, for use in clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, farms, factories and the battlefield.
He served as Chief of the Newborn Service at Texas Children’s Hospital from 1994 to 2019, where he helped build the largest neonatal unit in the United States, and led the Neonatology division at Baylor College of Medicine. He served in the United States Army Medical Corps from 1971 to 1994, including as a Consultant to the Surgeon General, and spearheaded the birth and care of the world’s first surviving set of octuplets.
